Walmart Black Friday Starts This Wednesday, November 8th

Walmart will launch an early Black Friday event on November 8th. Walmart+ members will get early access; deals will be available in stores on November 11th.

The holiday season starts earlier and earlier every year, with marketplaces vying to get ahead of each other with enticing deals.

So much so, Walmart’s Black Friday event will start this Wednesday, November 8th—more than two weeks ahead of the traditional date, which this year lands on November 24th. (Some are even calling it a pre-Black Friday sale.)

While it may seem counterintuitive, it will allow the rising e-commerce behemoth to get ahead of the rest of the market.

Most notably, Walmart aims to get ahead of Amazon. A month earlier, Walmart ran its ‘Walmart Deals Holiday Kickoff’ just before Amazon’s October Prime Day.

Walmart’s 2023 Black Friday sale will last a whole week, with limited deals available in categories such as home goods, fashion, tech, and toys, but what’s most interesting is how Walmart will stagger the availability of its deals.

  • Noon EST, November 8th (Wednesday)—Walmart+ members will get early access to Walmart’s Black Friday deals, three hours ahead of regular online shoppers.
  • 3 PM, November 8th—Regular shoppers will get access to Walmart’s Black Friday event.
  • 6 AM local time, November 10th (Friday)—Two days later, Walmart’s Black Friday deals will be available in Walmart stores too.

But this is only Walmart’s first Black Friday event this year. Later in November, Walmart will hold a second event from the 22nd to the 24th, followed by Cyber Monday on the 26th.
