Before Sellercloud
Before implementing Descartes Sellercloud™, Sterling Forever faced growing challenges managing inventory accuracy, order processing, and reporting as the business expanded across multiple sales channels.
The company relied on a previous order and inventory management system that lacked reliability and depth. Inventory accuracy was inconsistent, and reporting capabilities were limited. As Alex Boellner explained, “Before Sellercloud, we used a different order and inventory management system. The inventory accuracy was not nearly as strong as it is with Sellercloud, and our old system didn’t have very robust reporting.”


Order issues were frequent, with daily disruptions caused by stock discrepancies, unknown SKUs, and fulfillment delays. At the same time, the company’s SKU count and order volume were increasing rapidly, putting additional pressure on operations and making it more difficult to maintain control.
The Challenge
As Sterling Forever scaled its ecommerce operations, maintaining visibility and accuracy became increasingly difficult. The growing SKU catalog and expansion across multiple channels introduced complexity across inventory, fulfillment, and reporting.
Inventory inaccuracies led to frequent order issues, impacting customer experience and operational efficiency. Without detailed reporting, the team lacked visibility into profitability by SKU and channel, limiting their ability to make data-driven decisions.


The business also needed more flexibility in its workflows. Existing systems could not adapt to the company’s evolving operational needs, making it harder to scale efficiently while maintaining control.
The Solution
Sterling Forever implemented Sellercloud as its centralized ecommerce operations platform, consolidating orders, inventory, and reporting into a single system of record.

The platform provided immediate access to detailed operational data. “After we were fully onboarded with Sellercloud, it was almost like a deer-in-the-headlights moment because I had never had access to so much data in a single, consolidated place,” Boellner shared.
With advanced reporting and automation tools, the team gained the ability to filter, track, and manage operations at a granular level. This improved visibility allowed Sterling Forever to better understand performance across SKUs, channels, and fulfillment workflows.
After Implementing Sellercloud
After implementing Sellercloud, Sterling Forever achieved significant improvements in accuracy, visibility, and operational efficiency.
Order issues were reduced dramatically. “With the old system, on average, we had at least 10 to 15 orders per day that were either partially out of stock, came in with an unknown SKU, or had some kind of issue that held them up for fulfillment. After switching to Sellercloud, that number dropped by up to 80%,” said Boellner.
At the same time, the company successfully scaled its operations. “The order volume went from just a couple hundred orders a month to well over a thousand orders a month,” Boellner shared. The platform supported the management of more than 15,000 SKUs while maintaining stronger inventory control.


Profitability also improved with greater visibility into order performance. With real-time insights into operations, the team gained better control and accountability. “We can see in real time who is picking each order, who is packing it, where the order originated from, its profitability, and how long it took from picking to when it left the building,” said Boellner.
