“Since Descartes Sellercloud, our business really increased 5x every year.”

Moses Chemtob, Ecommerce Director, Jem Global

Before Descartes

Jem Global evolved from a wholesale-focused business into a multi-entity organization spanning multiple product categories across the digital lifestyle accessory market. Early on, the company had systems in place to support traditional business needs, but those tools were not designed for ecommerce scale. “Prior to Descartes Sellercloud we had an ERP system. When we started with Sage about nine years ago, we were not so strong online,” said Albert Alboucai, President of Jem Global.

As ecommerce demand increased, Jem Global expanded rapidly across consumer marketplaces while maintaining a wide product catalog and multiple brands. Over time, the operation evolved into a high-volume, multi-platform ecommerce business handling thousands of SKUs. Managing that scale required overseeing an extensive assortment, as Ecommerce Director Moses Chemtob explained: “We have a vast number of brands, over 3,000 SKUs.”

The Challenge

As Jem Global expanded its ecommerce footprint, it needed to operate accurately at scale across dozens of marketplaces. Inventory control, order processing, and tracking updates became increasingly difficult to manage manually, especially as order volumes grew.

Operating across so many platforms introduced significant complexity, Alboucai explained. “Once you are covering a lot of different platforms, like we do over 35 platforms, it’s not easy to handle inventory across all these platforms and fulfill and not have issues,” he said.

For the ecommerce operations team, the limitations of the prior system created constant monitoring work, particularly around tracking numbers and marketplace requirements. Over time, the manual burden began to slow productivity and limit growth. “Prior to Sellercloud, it was draining. It was very manual. I wasn’t able to do as much as I wanted. We really did hit the ceiling. We didn’t have much more room to grow,” said Miguel Tome, Ecommerce Specialist at Jem Global.

The Solution

Jem Global evaluated several ecommerce platforms before selecting Descartes Sellercloud, guided by peer recommendations and the need for a solution capable of managing multichannel operations at scale. “We did our homework, we shopped around, we had a lot of good references that Sellercloud is the best software, so we tried it,” said Alboucai.

With Sellercloud in place, Jem Global centralized marketplace operations and gained stronger control over inventory, pricing, and fulfillment across channels. Alboucai noted that the ability to manage warehouse and marketplace workflows in one system made a measurable difference. “The WMS, being able to ship, to manage the pricing and the inventory across all 35 different platforms, all of that became a lot easier with Sellercloud,” he said.

By replacing manual processes with automation, they could now have a single system of record across all ecommerce channels. “Now with Sellercloud, everything is automated,” said Tome.

The implementation process focused on strengthening inventory control while supporting the company’s continued growth.

After Implementing Descartes Sellercloud

Implementing Sellercloud enabled Jem Global to improve operational speed, accuracy, and control across its ecommerce warehouses, particularly during peak demand periods.

Fulfillment performance improved significantly, allowing the team to process large volumes of orders without disruption. Ecommerce Director Moses Chemtob described the impact during peak shipping periods: “Shipments have gone dramatically quicker. We were able to process a thousand orders with no issues. We had to ship out 50,000 orders in only 24 hours, without a hitch.”

These operational gains also translated into improved labor efficiency. Automation allowed Jem Global to manage a much larger business without increasing staffing at the same rate. “We now need less employees to manage the same thing we were doing for bigger business,” said Alboucai.

With logistics operations running more smoothly, teams were able to shift their attention from manual execution to growth initiatives. “Now, with Sellercloud, we can focus on growing the business, focusing on what comes next, and really multiplying in size,” said Tome.
