Shipbridge Settings for Backup/Restore

Shipbridge lets you easily restore your settings to a previous configuration in the event of accidental changes. Additionally, you can export these settings to an XML file, simplifying the configuration process across multiple Shipbridge stations using a file import. This article will guide you through the step-by-step process of exporting your Shipbridge settings, restoring them from the server, and importing them back.

Make sure to Update your Shipbridge station to the latest version available. Navigate to the Release History page to see all available versions and specific updates.

Export Settings to File

To export your Shipbridge settings as an XML file:

  1. Go to Menu > Backup/Restore > Export Settings to File.
  2. Select a desired location on your computer and save the file.

Alternatively, download the settings file of any of your connected installations through the RTC (Real-Time Connect) Server.

Restore Settings From Server

You can easily restore previous configurations of your Shipbridge settings by downloading them directly from the server.

  1. Go to Menu > Backup/Restore > Restore Settings from server..
  2. A pop-up window will appear where you will see all previous versions of your Settings for that specific Shipbridge installation.
  3. Choose a settings configuration on the left to view the XML file and compare it with the current settings of your Shipbridge below. The previous server settings are available by date.
  4. Select the settings that should replace the current configuration and click Restore. This will automatically install the backup file and restart the Shipbridge application.

Import Settings from File

When configuring Shipbridge settings on a different computer, ensure that the settings file is stored locally on that machine. To import an XML file with settings into Shipbridge:

  1. Go to Menu > Backup/Restore > Select Import Settings from File.
  2. Choose the Settings file from your local storage and import it.

Upon import, all settings and credentials will be automatically populated, including login information from the original station. If you’re importing the file for a different Shipbridge account, log out of Shipbridge and log back in with the credentials of the respective user. Click the Username at the top right of the Shipbridge app to reveal the logout button.
